Canon Law: Safe Travel | Mass Attendance

A reminder to the faithful of the Archdiocese of Baltimore that Canon Law excuses Catholics from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass due to a grave cause, such as unsafe travel due to severe weather conditions.
It is my hope and prayer that everyone will remain safe during the impending snowstorm and that in lieu of attending Mass, for those who are unable to do so, other alternatives will be available to them to observe the Lord’s day.  These include listening to the weekly Radio Mass of Baltimore (9am and 6pm Sunday on WCBM and
www.wcbm.com) and watching the Mass on television (EWTN) or online (www.churchnativity.tv).  As well, I encourage people to pray the Readings of the day for the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, which can be found at www.usccb.org/bible/readings/012416.cfm.  Let us also remember in prayer those who lack shelter, as well as those who will work in difficult conditions to ensure our safety.
May God bless us and keep us always in His love!
